Activities of the 13th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum

On Thursday 6-10-2022, the activities of the 13th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum began in Istanbul.

The forum was supervised by the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum, in cooperation with the Arab Economy and Business Foundation.

Economic cooperation was on global challenges and meetings between Arab and Turkish businessmen. It was supervised by the Turkish Ministry of Finance and the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic.

The forum was attended by the Federation of Chambers and Exchanges in Turkey, the Federation of Arab Chambers and the Council of Turkish Exporters.

The first forum was launched in 2005, and was after five years of hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the opening session, "Faisal Abdul Zaki", Vice President of the Economics and Business Foundation, said: "We live in a new world with which challenges and opportunities have changed, forcing us to look for deep partnerships."

He explained that "between Turkey and the Arab world are geopolitical and strategic interests, which are one of the most important relations."

He added: "In recent years meetings with the Arab world have increased, especially in trade and agro-industries, and there have been good relations, and we expect an increase in the field of finance and business."

Turkey has seen an increase in exports, growth, and unemployment has declined and we expect tourism revenues to reach $40 billion, especially after hosting more than 47 million tourists at the end of 2022.

In the end, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Turkish Chambers and Exchanges (Öztürk Oran) said: "The global economy is going through a difficult phase and we expect 2023 to be a difficult year and that needs more economic cooperation between the peoples of the world."
