Five myths to beat thirst in Ramadan
The world of social media platforms, websites, and the Internet is full of contradictions and myths that claim to be scientific. The Arab News Agency has published 5 of the most common myths related to overcoming thirst during fasting in Ramadan.
1- Drink a lot of water during Suhoor so you will not be thirsty during the day:
The kidneys work to expel excess water from the body that it does not need after a few hours, which leads to the person's disturbance during his sleep from the frequent need to go to the bathroom.
2- Drinking freezing water at the beginning of breakfast quenches the thirst:
Drinking very cold or ice water at the beginning of breakfast affects the stomach, reduces digestion efficiency, and leads to constriction of the capillaries, which causes some digestive disorders.
3- Drinking water while eating helps digestion:
Drinking water while eating disrupts the drooling of food while chewing it, so the saliva does not mix with food well, and therefore it is difficult to digest, and the body does not benefit from it well.
4- Drinking plenty of water after food eliminates thirst:
Drinking a lot of water right after food hinders digestion and prevents the digestive system from functioning correctly.
5- Drinking too much water leads to weight gain:
Recent studies have revealed that water plays an essential role in losing weight, as it helps to increase the secretion of the hormone noradrenaline, which increases fat burning.
