Belongings or items handed to security members will be sent to the “lost and found storage” in Karaköy, Istanbul to be sorted and regulated depending on their kind.
In Karaköy, lost belongings are photographed, documented, and saved for 3 months for their owner to come and claim them, whereas more valuable items like electronics, jewelry, etc are kept for an entire year then displayed in a public auction.
Personal Papers
Lost passports and residence permits are delivered to the police department whereas lost Turkish IDs are sent to the Nufus (General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs).
Clothing
Unclaimed clothes are sent to the Turkish Red Crescent Organization after 3 months of preservation.
